The Royal Wedding that took place this past weekend was reported by every form of media. Prince Harry and Princess Meghan tied the knot and the event was watched by millions worldwide. Apart from the wedding itself, we were also intrigued by the car driven by Prince Harry to chauffeur his new bride, Princess Meghan, to the wedding reception.

The car is an icon and was dubbed “the most beautiful car in the world” by Enzo Ferrari. We’re talking about the Jaguar E-Type.

First manufactured fifty years ago in 1968, the Jaguar E-Type was modernised last year by Jaguar Land Rover. JLR had electrified the vehicle to create what it calls the E-Type Concept Zero, a zero-emission version.

The electric model is quicker than the original E-Type, going from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in just 5.5 seconds, about one second faster than a Series 1 E-Type.

The modern £350,000 vehicle generates 295hp and the Royals' version came complete with a bespoke license plate, which bears the date of the wedding.

“Concept Zero combines the renowned E-type dynamic experience with enhanced performance through electrification,” said Tim Hannig, Director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic.

“This unique combination creates a breathtaking driving sensation. Our aim with Concept Zero is to give classic Jaguars a sustainable future in changing environmental and economic conditions,” he added.

The couple’s car was a left-hand drive model, a feature which some royal fans attributed as a nod to Markle’s American heritage.

The wedding itself was a majestic affair and to us car buffs, the Jaguar E-Type just added that extra bit of splendour to the event.
