From teenagers off to college to senior folks heading on a coffee jaunt, the Myvi is likely the car that brings them there. Owning a Myvi is a no brainer—it’s akin to having an umbrella in our tropical weather. Many households have a Myvi as a primary car or secondary vehicle. You yourself would likely have driven one. The point is, the Myvi is a car for Malaysians.

Perodua has just announced the latest Myvi that will hit showrooms and streets soon. A whole bunch of features has been added in with no compromise on its characteristics of value for money and solid quality.

“The all-new Myvi is the first Perodua model to have an upper body designed completely in-house, without foreign input,” said Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh, president and CEO of Perodua. The upper body is a 100% Perodua design.

“Not only is this a testament to our technology partner Daihatsu’s confidence in our abilities. It also allows the car to be tailored to suit the needs and wants that are unique to Malaysians,” he added

The all-new Myvi is also longer, lower and wider than the previous generation.

There are two options of the 1.3- and 1.5-litre four-cylinder Dual VVT-i petrol engines; either comes with a choice of two trim levels. The base 1.3G is available with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, whilst the rest are automatics.

In terms of its equipment offering, the new Myvi makes a significant leap from its predecessor; here’s the list :
  • All variants are equipped with keyless entry
  • Auto LED headlamps with follow-me-home function
  • Engine start/stop button
  • Eco Idle - engine shuts off when the car stops and restarts when brake pedal is released (available from 1.3 Premium X onwards)
  • Four (4) airbags for the 1.3 variant and six (6) airbags for the 1.5 variant
  • Advanced Safety Assist (ASA) package consisting of pre-collision warning and autonomous emergency braking (only for top of the range 1.5 AV variant)
  • 8+1 flexible seating arrangements
  • Electronic stability control (VSC)
  • Traction control (TRC)
  • Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)
  • Five-year/150,000 km warranty

There is a host of other features but you’d be better able to assess by testing one as the order books are already open. The new Myvi will be previewed during the upcoming MAI Autoshow 2017 this week at MAEPS, Serdang.

Just think of it—all these features can be had in a car below the RM60,000 mark. Even some “premium cars” don’t have these many features. Didn’t we just say something about its value for money?
