And it’s a funny looking car!

The remake of the eighties film, Ghostbusters, is set to hit the silver screen next year. The new all-female lead cast was announced early this year and filming has already begun. But of course we are also interested the other star of the movie…the one made of metal and spews exhaust fumes.

In the original Ghostbusters, the bumbling parapsychologists (two of them portrayed by the hysterical Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd) race to the scenes of the supernatural appearances in their vehicle, christened the Ecto-1; it is basically a Miller-Meteor ambulance-hearse combination built on a 1959 Cadillac chassis, but with a more cheerful paintwork and sporting the famous logo with the hardly frightening depiction of a ghost:

For the upcoming remake, Director Paul Feig tweeted these pictures of the new incarnation of the Ecto-1, accompanied by the hashtag #whattheygonnadrive.

The new ride does not stray very far from the original, as it is still a vintage Cadillac hearse from the eighties. It has the same colours and is topped with the familiar siren, antennae and megaphone on the roof.

There should be enough room in this one to store the crew's Proton Packs.
Fieg asked fans for feedback on the crew's new ride, which of course spanned from good to bad, if you've ever read reviews of ANYTHING online, and this movie franchise has its share of devotees. Some fans have defended the new design, saying it resembles the initial design imagined by Aykroyd:

For those of you who are too young to remember the movies, here's a taste of what you have to look forward to:
