X-1R & Partners Provide Roadside Assistance

Holy Week celebration in the Philippines is both spiritual and recreational. Generally, work stops from Holy Wednesday to Easter Sunday. Some go for spiritual retreats and religious activities, but a vast majority has made it an occasion for family outings, vacation trips, school reunions and recreational activities, which ironically is the opposite of what the season was intended to be.

These vacation trips create huge volume of vehicle traffic going to the provinces from the urban metropolis, and it has become customary for petrol companies and franchised car dealerships to provide roadside assistance to the travelling public on major roads of Metro Manila, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao and key provinces.

On 16, 17 and 21 April 2014, Phoenix Petroleum, the country’s fastest growing petroleum retailer with over 400 petrol stations nationwide, and Globe Telecoms, the nation’s leading telco company, partnered with X-1R, the only Space Certified Lubricant and a NASA Hall of Fame Awardee, to provide roadside assistance in some major roads of Metro Manila and access roads in the provinces of Laguna and Bulacan.

Phoenix's customers were provided free vehicle check-up to ensure road worthiness, and prevent mechanical and electrical breakdowns while on their holidays. X-1R gave Phoenix's customers, in selected stations nationwide, free X-1R Octane Booster, a product known to increase octane levels in petrol by three to five RONs, and X-1R Fuel System Cleaner, which cleans sludge and carbon deposits from the vehicle fuel lines. Globe Telecoms, meanwhile, gave free SIM cards and promotional cellphone loads to selected travellers. At the Phoenix-Globe-X1R Roadside Assistance Booths, car mechanics and technicians were on standby to perform quick repairs and oil change services at discounted service fees, while also providing discounts for X-1R and Globe products.

Celine Matias, Phoenix’s Marketing Head, was very happy with the success of the Roadside Assistance programme, while Brixton Aw, President of CreativeSparx Inc, the national distributor of X-1R in the Philippines, who personally supervised the programme saw the activities as a strategic move. He said, “It is good to see the three fastest selling brands - Phoenix, Globe and X-1R - join hands to serve its mutual customers.”
