Having been named as the world’s fastest growing automotive brand by business valuation consultancy Brand Finance recently, this dignified automaker is not resting on its laurels. Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur just unveiled the handsome-looking twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 version of the DB11. Visually, differences are subtle compared to its elder sibling, the 5.2-litre V12.

Not only does the V8 variant displays more of the DB11’s sporting character, but this car will also assist in expanding its global appeal, with a combination of exceptional performance and improved efficiency.

“We are thrilled to officially unveil the V8-powered DB11 in Kuala Lumpur. We expect sustained interest and continuing growth in demand for DB11, spearheaded by the arrival of the V8-powered model,” said Nancy Chen, Head of Sales Operations for Aston Martin, Southeast Asia.

It is gorgeous to look at and coupled with a V8 motor that produces 503bhp and 675Nm, the car just exudes the kind of charm that James Bond would be proud about.

The 8-speed transmission sourced from Mercedes-AMG, with whom Aston Martin has a technical partnership, powers the rear wheels and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 4 seconds to a top speed of 301 km/h.

Inside, you’re greeted with a cabin that has everything at just the right place. The meaty steering wheel invites you to have a go whilst the 12-inch full colour TFT LCD display is your instrument cluster.

It also comes with a second 8-inch screen that’s linked to the car's COMAND infotainment system. The cascading centre console is pleasing whereas seats are comfy with just the right amount of lumbar support.

Wood, carbon fibre and aluminium trim adds to the sophistication, and with an estimated RM1.8 million (US$464,000) price tag after duties and GST, this beauty is for the true enthusiast.

Also announced was the new Aston Martin’s service centre in Sungai Buloh. It is a fully air-conditioned 4,000 square feet site that has 3-work bays and a diagnostic bay.

“The new service centre is equipped with the latest tools, technology and equipment, managed by professionally trained service personnel,” explained Jerry Lee, Managing Director of Wearnes Quest. “With this investment, our current and future customers can be assured that we remain committed to deliver unparalleled British standards of excellence.”

Aston Martin is reinventing itself but certainly retaining elements of its glorious past – and it’s all worthwhile.
