BMW Concept Roadster was unveiled at the 2014 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, alongside the MINI Superleggera Concept, but it was missing vital components - two wheels; the "roadster" turned out to be a sleek motorbike that looks like it had zoomed in from the future, contrasting the retro-inspired MINI Superleggera. In fact, the BMW Concept Roadster looks like a chip of the (old) BMW i8.

According to Edgar Heinrich, Head of BMW Motorrad Design, ‘The BMW Concept Roadster shows that as far as BMW is concerned, motorcycling is about far more than just perfect function. This concept bike is a symbol of how modern and emotional a boxer-powered BMW roadster can be.’

The Concept Roadster is capable of 123hp and 92lb-ft of torque generated by a twin cylinder, 1.2-litre boxer engine. The overhanging seat, suspended by a piece of milled aluminum, looks like there is a structural component missing…until we recall that IKEA sells a piece of furniture that is quite similar:

The upswept curve of the exhaust is certainly unique and complements the sleek lines of the bike, but our question is... will the rider look like he has smoke coming out of his arse?
