With winning models that give customers great value for their money, Perodua has had a remarkable run the last twelve years. In that time, it has been the top selling automotive brand in Malaysia. Now, it broke the record for its highest ever monthly market share, of over 40%. Its sales volume of 17,693 units is against a total industry volume (TIV) of 43,930 units for the month of January 2018.
“While we defer to the Malaysian Automotive Association's (MAA) numbers, we are cautiously optimistic that for January 2018, our monthly market share is the highest ever in our history. This was spurred by deliveries of the new Myvi, as well as continued strong demand for our other models,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh, at the company’s Chinese New Year Luncheon with media and business partners.

To date, it has raked in a total of over 48,000 bookings for the 2018 Myvi, with 20,000 having been delivered. Since 2005, over a million Myvis have been registered.
Aminar also stated that Perodua is looking to purchase more than RM5 billion in components and parts this year, majority from local vendors. This will definitely contribute towards the growth of the Malaysian economy.
He thanked the buyers, vendors, members of the media and his team for the continuous support over the years. He also assured new Myvi owners that Perodua is doing everything in its capacity to ramp up production and get the cars delivered as soon as possible.
There was also a special ceremony, during which Wong Wai Cheng of Negeri Sembilan received his brand-new Lava Red Myvi 1.5 Advance, which was the 18,000th 2018 Myvi to roll off the production line.
“I am over the moon to be taking delivery of my new car. The minute I laid eyes on the new Myvi and saw how many sophisticated features I was getting for the price, I knew it was the vehicle for me. I’m always on the go. The Myvi’s compact dimensions make it very easy to park and manoeuvre, but it’s also very spacious inside. With six airbags and Advanced Safety Assist, I am well protected, and the built-in toll card reader is my favourite feature!” said Wong.
