Come 1st March, BMW Group Malaysia will have a new head honcho. Harald Hoelzl will take over from Han Sang Yun as Managing Director and CEO.
With a career that is richly imbued with the BMW fabric since 2002, Hoelzl has served in various capacities, such as in the sales, marketing, dealer development and IT departments. In 2011, he was appointed marketing head at BMW Group Central South Eastern Europe before leading the BMW Group’s operations in the Czech Republic.
Han Sang Yun (below), during his leadership in Malaysia, led BMW to its best-ever performance growth in 2017. Hang is credited with growing the brand's portfolio of plug-in hybrids to 55% of its total volume delivery in the country, driving the premium automaker’s strategy for Visionary Mobility, and leaving an indelible mark on the Malaysian automotive scene. He will move up and back to his native Korea, and step into the role of president of BMW Group Korea.
From all of us here at Automology, we wish the very best of success to Han and a very warm welcome to Hoelzl.
