Mercedes-Benz Malaysia chalked up another consecutive year of record-breaking results with sales of 12,045 vehicles. A percentage increase of 2.3% against the 11,779 registered in 2016 was buoyed by the locally produced E-Class and GLC models.
This increase was helped by a slew of new models launched last year—17 of them! And in line with the 50 years of AMG celebrations, there was an abundance of AMG offerings as well, with six new 43 series models launched: the E 43 4MATIC, SLC 43, C 43 4MATIC, C 43 4MATIC Coupe, GLC 43 4MATIC, GLC 43 4MATIC Coupe and AMG GT R.
“To deliver the Best Products, we launched 17 new models. To offer the Best Customer Experience, we launched nine new and upgraded dealerships, including a brand new dealer group, Auto Commerz Sdn Bhd. As a result, we successfully achieved a record-breaking year, our best ever performance in the history of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia President and CEO, Dr Claus Weidner.
The three-pointed star is well ahead of the pack in the premium segment. Here’s a breakdown of the different segments that produced the goods:
- Premium sedans – 7,041
- SUV – 2,599
- Compact cars – 2,031
- Dream cars - 374
"We are delighted to have delivered a record-breaking 12,045 Mercedes-Benz Cars to customers in Malaysia and by this confirming our position as the leading premium brand. Our locally produced vehicles, especially the new E-Class and the GLC have been our growth drivers,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Sales & Marketing, Vice President, Mark Raine.
He added, “We are thankful that our customers have put their confidence in our premium products. With our innovative mobility solutions, digitalisation initiatives as well as upcoming product highlights, we are confident of continuing on this success path.”
On top off that, four new Autohaus were added, making it 33 dedicated dealerships in totality nationwide. The after-sales division set a new record of servicing 128,072 vehicles as compared to the 108,226 it managed in 2016.
Sister company, Mercedes-Benz Service Malaysia (MBSM), raised its portfolio to RM2.2 billion, up from RM1.8 billion the previous year. That is a ratio of four out every 10 vehicles sold.
Good things are happening at Mercedes-Benz. The motto "The best or nothing" truly speaks volumes of it current standing.
