Ken Block is back with his eighth version of sliding theatrics in an updated version of his Ford Fiesta ST RX43 Rally Car. Set in the arid but beautiful landscape that is Dubai in this latest version, Block races and drifts through the streets of the desert nation’s capital, where he bosses a Bugatti, taunts a Raptor, drifts through the undercarriage of a Boeing Jumbo Jet, and tells a cheetah to get out and walk!
Ken Block having a quiet moment.
The amazing setting for this version of Ken Block's insane stunts features some of the most iconic settings around Dubai, such as the Sheik Zayad Highway and Burj Park (home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa), and quite amazingly one of the runways at the Dubai International Airport.
Block stated in a press release, and despite it sounding slightly clichéd, that this was by far his favourite Gymkhana so far. He must have been particularly chuffed at the point in the video when he uses the Dubai Police Forces collection of exotic cars (about which we have frequently written) as a block during the routine. He may have also enjoyed the point when he out drags a collection of supercars that included a Bugatti Veyron.
Of course, to undertake all of the stunts in the video, Block didn’t have a standard car. The all-new Fiesta ST RX43 packs an almighty 650hp and an alleged 0-100 kph of just 1.8 seconds, which is probably quick enough to tear the skin off your face. For us though, the scariest part of the video is the point at which he has a live cheetah in the cockpit with him, an animal that is of course capable of eating the skin off your face!
How do you think it compares with the previous seven versions? Watch it here!
