The all-new Ford Focus RS accelerates from standstill to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds, and can achieve a top speed of 165 mph. This makes it faster than the V8 Mustang and supercharged V8 Falcon XR8, which achieves the 62 figure in about 4.8 seconds and 5.0 seconds respectively.

The AWD hot hatch gets power from a 2.3-litre four-pot Ecoboost engine that generates 345 bhp at 5900 rpm, with a redline of 6800rpm. Maximum torque of 324lb-ft is delivered between 2000 and 4500 rpm, but an overboost function can push this up to 346 lb-ft, for up to 15 seconds.

New with the third-generation Focus RS is the Ford Performance AWD system that engages dual electronically-controlled clutch packs to control the car’s front/rear torque division, and can adjust the side-to-side torque distribution on the rear axle. To use it, the driver engages the Launch Control from the cluster menu, gets into first gear, applies full throttle and releases the clutch. Torque is then distributed through the AWD system, while the system manages the traction control and sets the dampers.

This Focus RS brings slightly modified exterior styling, delivering "enhanced aerodynamics and cooling". Significant changes are the more aerodynamic front splitter, rear spoiler and new underbody features.
