The Huayra made its debut in 2012 to replace the aging Zonda (launched in 1999, but Pagani continued churning out special editions up until just last year). The name ‘Huarya’ may be a bit awkward to pronounced, since it takes after the ancient Incan empire's God of the Winds, Wayra Tata. There were only 100 units of the Huayra coupe, which sold out, and rumours of a roadster version spread soon after the coupe came out. Now TopGear reports that the roadster version will be released in 2016.

Just like the Zonda, the Huayra roadster would probably be similar to its coupe sibling, from its 700hp 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged Mercedes-Benz AMG V-12 down to its little mechanical bits. History predicts that this would be a limited edition model as well, but then Pagani created evolutionary versions of the Zonda – for instance, the Roadster F, Cinque Roadster and the Uno Roadster for Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Thani of Qatar – so we can expect to see more Huayra Roadster's after its initial production run.
