Glories of the Donkervoort D8 GTO celebrated with special edition

Donkervoort, a Dutch manufacturer of lightweight and hand-built sports cars, proudly introduced a special edition of the D8 GTO in honour of the feats that the machine achieved last year, including the lap record set at the Bilster Berg circuit for street-legal production cars, and top scores and fastest lap times achieved during various tests conducted by Europe’s top automotive publications. Here it is, the Donkervoort D8 GTO Bilster Berg edition.

The Bilster Berg edition has the same specs as the vehicle that set the record lap time. It weighs a lithe 1,532 pounds but generates a mighty 380 horsepower from its Audi-sourced turbocharged 2.5-litre 5-cylinder engine. This propels the vehicle from zero to 62mph in just 2.8 seconds and to a top speed of 167mph.

But, great things come with great price tags. The special equipment and proven performance retail for €194,000, and that excludes the 21% VAT. The high price does come with exclusivity as a bonus, for Donkervoort will be making only 14 of this highly limited edition D8 GTO.
