No Michael Schumacher has not made a miraculous recovery, although we do wish he does. This is a brand new Schumacher by the name of Mick, who is the 15-year-old son of seven-time F1 champion and legend, Michael.

Seemingly following in his father's footsteps, young Mick has had what you could say is a successful karting season after winning the European Junior karting title. He then went on to finish second in the Junior category FIA World Championship in Essay, France, an event that was won by Britain's Enaam Ahmed.

Previously, the youngster had not been attracting much attention as he was racing under his mother's maiden name of Betsch, but he seems to be determined to come into his own and perhaps honour his father who suffered severe head injuries whilst skiing last December, and has now adopted the monicker of Mick Schumacher Junior.

Michael Senior came to fame like so many F1 pilots via the European karting competitions and was German and European champion on a number of occasions. Mick Junior narrowly failed to win the German Junior, ending up a very credible second in the final race of the season and overall runner-up in the championship when he was passed on the last lap by David Beckmann.

F1 has a history of children following in their fathers' famous footsteps (or is that tyre tracks?) so we are sure that we will seeing more of Mick Junior in the future.
