No one is surprised that the BMW M5 (Competition Pack) lost to the Nissan GT-R in a track battle. The former comes with digitally generated engine noises and is left choking in the Nissan GT-R's dust. Even though the BMW M5’s engine packs a massive 567bhp, its weight is what ultimately drags it down in the EVO track challenge against the slightly less powerful but 200kg lighter Nissan GT-R.
Of course, the feedback for both is best heard directly from the driver, none other than Sebring 12 Hour winner, Marino Franchitti.
The Nissan GT-R is the runaway winner of the lap time challenge with its ability to pull away faster after corners. However, if you only had £80,000 to spare, which would you actually want to own? Driving the M5 on the track requires almost constant fiddling with the steering and throttle, and it lacked rear downforce, but it is "more involving" for the driver; at the end of the day, it is a plush super saloon which you can drive around with a few friends and family in the backseat, and they'll be suitably impressed still.
