Today, Dan Akerson, CEO of General Motors, Detroit, announced a mind blowing prototype car equipped with high speed wireless broadband connection (see our article on IT Savvy Car).

GM is working together with AT&T to enable 4G LTE via its OnStar service. Most GM models will start to have high speed broadband connectivity from the year 2015.

Successful marketers will always listen to the customers. GM differentiates themself by offering a 4G experience, based on the fact that connectivity is 1 of the top 5 priorities that affect customers’ purchasing decisions.
The cars will be Wi-Fi enabled: live navigation, traffic reports and Google maps no longer have to be accessed via a smart phone, but through the car's infotainment head unit; video streaming is available from the rear seat screen, which kids would love. Smartphones and tablets would be able to use the car as a mobile hotspot.

High speed wireless broadband connection will be the key selling point for GM cars soon and buying a car incorporated with IT technology will no longer be just a dream.
