The Aston Martin Vantage was revealed recently and while the outgoing model was one of the world’s most beautiful cars, this newly launched model is even more ravishing. The Vantage nameplate has been a mainstay for the past several decades, which was first used in 1951 on a high-output engine option for the DB2. The Vantage was quickly established as a model in its own right. Highlights include the William Towns-designed V8 Vantage, spectacular twin-supercharged V600 Le Mans and the much-loved V8 Vantage.

The new Vantage has a new in-your-face (or rather in-your-rear-view-mirror) mesh grille which gives off a menacing look. The Vantage projects a ready to pounce image with its bold design, air vents cut at the back of the front wheel arches and short overhangs. Its long low-slung bonnet coupled with a rear spoiler, with an immense rear diffuser, creates a tremendous amount of downforce.

The interior of this stunning masterpiece will leave one agape. With PRND selector buttons, climate control toggles, infotainment system controller and a lower seating position, it gives you a feeling of being cloaked.

You get an eight-inch display centrally mounted LCD screen which comprises of Aston Martin Audio System, Bluetooth® audio and phone streaming, iPod®, iPhone® and USB playback, and an integrated satellite navigation system.

The Vantage is equipped with keyless start/stop, tyre pressure monitoring system, parking distance display, park assist and front and rear parking sensors. Alcantara upholstery is given though you may opt for a full-leather interior to make your car stand out from the rest (like it doesn’t, already). Exquisite saddle leather door pulls is a nice touch and you get 350 litres of cargo space.

Aston Martin's President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andy Palmer, said:
“It speaks volumes for the outgoing Vantage that it is the single most successful model in Aston Martin’s history. Creating a worthy successor has been a challenge to relish and a huge source of motivation. I’m enormously excited by what we’ve created: a new Vantage that’s more explicit in looks and intent, wrapping heart-pounding performance and dazzling dynamics into an everyday usable package. A true sports car with a sharper look and a keener dynamic edge, the new Vantage is the Aston Martin pure driving machine enthusiasts have been waiting for.”

You can also personalize it even further by adding forged alloy wheels in a variety of finishes, Sports Plus Collection (comprising Sports Plus seats and Sports steering wheel), carbon fibre interior and exterior detailing and a Premium Audio System.

The heart of the Vantage is 4-litre twin-turbo engine, placed to get to that magical centre-of-gravity weight distribution of 50:50, and is mated to ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. It cranks out a whooping 510 PS at 6000 rpm and 685 Nm from 2000-5000 rpm. Weighing at only 1530 kilos, this achieves a tremendous power-to-weight ratio. Clocking the 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and maximum speed of 195 mph, you’re in for one heck of a ride.

Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Torque Vectoring are packaged with this unit. And for the first time on an Aston Martin, the Vantage has Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff) which is linked to the car’s electronic stability control system, helping it to interpret the car’s behavior and react precisely to channel the engine’s power to the relevant wheel.

New Pirelli P Zero tyres were developed specially for the new Vantage and the latest generation Adaptive Damping System, which incorporates Skyhook technology and offers the choice of Sport, Sport Plus and Track modes.
