In line with Porsche’s heritage which is steeped in motorsports, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP) will be starting the Cayman GT4 Clubsport Racing Experience at the Sepang International Circuit.

It’s a half-day track programme for Porsche owners who have sufficient driving experience in their own car, on track. Now, these owners will be able to drive a race car under the supervision of experienced Porsche race car drivers.

“The new Cayman GT4 Clubsport Racing Experience is the logical next step for SDAP in our customer motorsport activities. Our Open Track Days are already a long tradition by now and they have provided our customers with the opportunity to drive their road cars in a safe environment with expert advice on the Sepang International Circuit,” said Arnt Bayer, Chief Executive Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance.

Will Bamber, a Porsche Carrera Cup Driver, will conduct the one-to-one coaching programme. In 2017, he was the Champion Rookie and finished third overall in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. “We are excited to call on Will Bamber’s experience as part of our GT4 Clubsport Racing Experience, and we look forward to being able to share this experience with our customers,” Arnt added.

“With the Cayman GT4 Clubsport Racing Experience, we take our motorsport programme one step further by offering our customers the chance to drive a race car, in our own Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR. This will for sure be a driving experience and excitement on a completely different level. And it might be the first step into a racing career for some of them. In addition to the training content, the programme ensures that the fun side of driving is not forgotten,” said Bayer

The program will include:
- general vehicle control
- finding the perfect driving line,
- determining the most effective braking points
- avoiding unnecessary steering inputs
- car set up
- interpreting of driving characteristics
- driving on slick tires
- making immediate adjustments in the cockpit

As safety is of utmost importance. Each driver will be equipped with the a complete set of safety equipment including a suitable helmet, HANS safety equipment, a racing suit and Nomex clothing.
