https://automology.blogspot.com/2016/12/8-safest-suvs-cars-2017.html
Recently, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) revealed the 8 safest SUVs and cars for 2017. These 8 vehicles, which passed through a series of tests and were rated as Top Safety Pick+, includes two models from Kia and another two from Hyundai.
With
November already over, several automakers have already had their latest models
tested by the IIHS. If your priority is safety first when choosing a vehicle,
these SUVs and cars are what you are looking for:
1. Hyundai
Elantra
With its optional front crash prevention system rated superior by IIHS, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra nailed the top score in all five crash tests. Emergency auto-brake and pedestrian detection can also be found in models built after March 2016.

2. Ford
Fusion
Similar to the Hyundai Elantra mentioned above, the Ford Fusion’s front crash prevention system scored top rating. The 2017 Ford Fusion is the first midsize sedan to win the Top Safety Pick+ designation and features improvements over the 2016 edition, which only scored average in the front overlap test.

3. Kia
Sportage
The Kia Sportage landed top scores in all five crash tests and received superior rating for its front crash prevention system. Its safety features is as much a selling point as the 10 –year warranty that Kia offers (in the US only). It’s a pity that its headlights are rated ‘poor’ by the IIHS.

4. Audi
A4
You won’t find a safety reason to discourage you from buying an Audi A4. Besides the top score in every crash test, superior crash prevention system and the ease-of-use of its child safety anchors, drastic improvements have been made to the A4 since the 2016 edition which received poor ratings.

5. Hyundai
Santa Fe
It’s the first time that the Hyundai Santa Fe finds itself on the Top Safety Pick+ list. With the highest possible rating in every crash test as well as for its front crash prevention system and headlight safety, the Santa Fe is a great example of remarkable safety offered by an SUV. The Sante Fe Sport also received the highest IIHS rating for 2017.

6. Lincoln
MKZ
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ returns to the Top Safety Pick+ list after a year out of the winner’s circle. With the new-look grille and hybrid option without the price premium, you have a solid value proposition in the midsize premium segment, not to mention its superior front crash prevention system.

7. Audi
Q7
The new Audi Q7 passed the IIHS’s 2017 tests with flying colours. It got top marks in child seat anchor ease-of-use as well as every crash test. Prestige models feature the most safety tech, including a standard virtual cockpit with head-up display and top view camera system.
