During the launch of the Bezza yesterday, Perodua announced that it had sold 4,028 units of its first ever sedan in just five days, since bookings began on Saturday.

The most popular variant is the top-of-the-range 1.3-litre Advance Version (MYR51,000), making up half of the sales; followed by the Premium X MT/AT variants (MYR43,000 - MYR45,000) which account for 35% of sales; the remainder was made up by the 1.0-litre MT/AT variants (MYR37,000 – MYR39,000).

During the press conference, Perodua CEO and President, Aminar Rashid Salleh, announced that the automaker had 7,000 units of the Bezza already in stock; delivery begins today.

The Bezza is manufactured in the same production plant as the automaker’s best-selling model, the Axia, of which 9,000 to 10,000 units are sold every month. Perodua targets monthly sales of 6,000 to 7,000 units for the Bezza; the automaker had spent MYR300 million to develop the A-segment sedan, and 95% of it is built from local content.

Aminar said that incorporating features available in luxury vehicles into the Bezza, while maintaining affordable pricing will help the automaker grow its export market; these features include smart key, stop-start technology, smartphone link, remote boot release and reverse camera.

Space is perhaps one of the Bezza’s more unique selling points: with 508-litre luggage space, a 60:40 rear folding seat and a fully foldable front passenger seat, there are 8+1 seating configurations for passengers to adjust to, according to their needs.
