Automologist MAC (and his brood) is getting impatient about a new release...not of a car, but a game; not of a game, but the game.
The next and supposedly best ever version of Gran Tourismo is just around the corner and the wait is killing at least three people in my household. You see, this will be the first version available on Play Station 4 (PS4) and for those of you still living in the dark ages, so many of us converted over to the PS4 hardware some two years ago only to find that the older PS3 games would not run on the new platform. And worse, so many of our favourite games were not in PS4 format.
Ask any Gran Tourismo fan out there and they will tell you the game is by far one of the most realistic race simulator games available, with the cars and tracks based on the real thing. Real measurements from real race tracks are what goes to make up the circuits, and real performance data from the real cars are what the cars are based on. Now you really can get behind the wheel of a Bugatti and race it around Silverstone or Suzuki or Sepang.
Sony has released a trailer for the show that will give any Gran Tourismo fan goosebumps, with digital versions of Mclarens and Mustangs and Astons Martins all looking so realistic. The rendered live action seems to be interspaced with scenes of the real thing. I could give you a blow by blow account of the trailer, but really you would probably enjoy watching it a lot more, so here it is, all four minutes and twenty two seconds of it:
Sony has made us wait two long years for Gran Tourismo 7 for the PS4 consoles, so a lot of us are expecting a heck of a lot from the new game. The release has been timed to coincide with the E3 Game Expo. However, for mere mortals like me and my two game-playing sons, we will not be able to get our hands on a copy until just before Christmas, which is a long, long time away…
