S63 AMG Coupe - speed and sophistication

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe is a big, opulent coupe that hints at romance, promises adventure and portrays cultured elegance. And it’s fast. It produces 585 PS and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of peak torque, which means it can cruise to 100kph in just 3.9 seconds. For a car that weighs around two tons, that’s extremely impressive. But with the S63, it doesn’t have to be about speed – it’s also luxury on wheels.

The S63 AMG goes on sale in the US, along with two new S-Class Coupe models. Coming in at the entry-level is the S550, powered by the 449hp, 4.7-litre twin-turbo V-8 with standard 4Matic AWD and priced at US$119,900. At the other (higher) end is the S65 AMG, which mates Daimler's mighty 621hp, 6.0-litre twin-turbo V-12 with the seven-speed AMG Speedshift Plus AMT, for the sweet price of US$230,900.

We imagine ourselves cruising across Europe in one of these, with designer luggage in the boot and a Grace Kelly-lookalike beside us, while a bottle of Dom Perignon awaits us at our destination.
