The new Shelby GT350 Mustang is the sixth-generation and most extreme version yet of this pony car produced by Ford. Under that bold striped bonnet is the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine ever in the company's production cars. The 5.2-liter V-8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft generates more than 500hp and a peak torque of 400 lb. ft., and the untraditional 180-degree layout "permits better cylinder breathing, further extending the performance envelope of the V8", according to the American carmaker.
The first Shelby GT350 was introduced in 1965, packing a 306bhp 4.7-litre V8, cementing its reputation ever since as a track monster. Ford said that the latest GT350 is ‘an all-day track car that's also street legal', making it a veritable addition to the model’s longtime heritage.
On the interior, there’s Recaro bucket seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and, if you want, leather upholstery, LCD touchscreen and dual-zone air con.
The new Shelby GT350 debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
