In this day and age, with great technology at our fingertips, the makers of the latest Lexus ad decided to do it the hard way - WITHOUT CGI.
The ad was directed by Adam Berg of Stink Productions, part of the marketing campaign developed by the agency, CHI & Partners. They shot the action over seven days against the vibrant "nightscape" of Kuala Lumpur. In the ad, an “illuminated man” appears to leap from rooftop to rooftop, from skyscraper to skyscraper, climb up billboards, cartwheel through an empty office and even dive into a swimming pool.
Dozens of stuntmen and acrobats dressed in LED suits took part in creating the illusion, using complex rigging and in-camera effects. The live stunts mixed with parkour makes this one of our favourite auto ads. Enjoy!
‘STROBE is the third entry in our “Amazing in Motion” campaign. We created this global series of projects to showcase our imagination through innovative design and technology. It builds on the Lexus ambition to connect with the hearts, as well as the minds, of consumers,’ said Lexus International's Executive Vice President, Mark Templin, at the launch of the new video.
The campaign will run globally in the US, UK, Asia and Middle East, reaching people through television, cinema, print, outdoor advertising and social media.
