In just a few weeks, one of the biggest auto carnivals in South East Asia will be held in Putrajaya International Convention Centre, on 1–3 December. Organised by Procara Entertainment Sdn Bhd and Perbadanan Putrajaya, this event combines both B2B and B2C segments. The event, said to be targeting 500,000 people, will host numerous car and bike manufacturers, automotive parts accessories suppliers, support and service suppliers, tools and workshop suppliers, car cosmetic and spa suppliers, and also raw material suppliers.

The first roadshow to entice the public for the premier event was held in Kota Bahru on 5 August, followed by the second one on 26 August at the National Art Gallery. Johor Bahru played host to its third roadshow on 23 September. The most recent roadshow was held recently in Stadium Batu Kawan, Penang on 14 October. Throughout these roadshows, crowds of between 30,000 to 40,000 people were present to witness and participate in the many activities held.

On the development of new businesses in the automotive industry, Motonation has teamed up with SUPERB TERAJU. This is a move for Bumiputera entrepreneurs to pitch their business plans and proposals to a team of judges. Six finalists will be rewarded for the best business models from a total of RM3 million. Business owners between the ages of 18–40 are eligible to participate. The finalists will be announced at the finale in December.

Outdoor activities will include concerts and stage performances, an inflatable playground, kids’ Go-Kart, hot air balloon, drift taxi experience by professional drifters, motorbike stunts, RC car races, motocross shows and virtual reality experience, as well as a variety of food trucks. The outdoor area will be open from 10am to midnight.

All exhibitors, VIPs and sponsors are invited to after-hour cocktail receptions on Friday and Saturday, from 6pm to 8pm, for private business-matching and networking.

The organisers plan to have a custom bike competition, which will see participants from Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. The grand prize winner will receive a flight ticket, hotel accommodation, transportation and participation in AMD Intermot in Cologne, Germany.

Next year, Motonation plans to create a custom car competition, whereby the winner will be sent to participate in SEMA in Las Vegas, and in 2019 it plans to host a green technology competition among universities and colleges, and winners will be sent to Germany for the green tech convention.

“There are currently motor shows, auto festivals, auto salons, but these are all individual motoring cultures,” said En. Faisal bin Mohamad Ali, the Executive Director of Motonation. “What Motonation is trying to do is to put all these cultures together under one roof.”

As Malaysia is ranked third after Thailand and Indonesia in total vehicle production among ASEAN countries, this truly bodes well for the automotive players in the industry, with everyone working together for the common goal—to catapult Malaysia into becoming an automotive giant.

Our sponsor will be there too.

Our sponsor X-1R, in partnership with Bikes Republic & MotoMalaya, will be participating in Motonation, so be sure to drop by booths A103 & A104 for some exciting prizes to be won.
